Magic in the Moonlight (2014)
I think deep down even the most pessimistic of us out there would like to believe there's some magic left in the world. The important question is, how far are you willing to go to let yourself be completely immersed in it. In the latest Woody Allen film, he explores how love can affect even the most cynical of us. Colin Firth plays a famous magician with the speciality of debunking fake mystics. When he is asked by a close friend to help him debunk a young American girl (played by Emma Stone) who is about to swindle a wealthy family of their fortune, he agrees to prove that there is no such thing as real magic in the world. His interactions with the young, beautiful American makes him question his dark view of the world and makes him wonder whether there is some magic in the world after all.

Bright Eyes playlist.
I've been meaning to write up reviews for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Magic in the Moonlight' but I've been lazy. I'm sure they'll get done eventually. In the meantime, I tried to pick my top 10 favorite Bright Eyes/ Conor Oberst songs, but it was too hard. So, here's my list, slightly over 10 songs in no particular order.
'First Day of My Life', 'Let's Not Shit Ourselves', 'Trees get wheeled away', 'We are nowhere and it's now', 'Bowl of Oranges', 'The Happiest Place on Earth', 'An Attempt to Tip the Scale', 'Take it easy', 'Loose Leaves', 'False Advertising', 'The Calendar Hung Itself', 'Hit the Switch', 'Zigzagging Towards the Light'.
For all the Conor fans, did I miss any of your favorites?

Thanks for all the memories and laughter...
I was shocked to hear about Robin Williams passing away today. I feel that entertainers as talented as Williams become part of our lives whether we realize it or not. We grow up watching them, sometimes we watch them grow up in front of our eyes. And in some silly way, we come to believe that we know them better than some of our own friends. They enter our lives through televisions and the big screens. They delight us with their bigger than life personalities. They make us laugh, think, and cry. For a brief period of time, they help us forget about whatever distractions and worries we have in our lives.
Often times, I make the mistake of believing that the big Hollywood stars live in a perfect fantasy world that us regular folks can only dream of. But, the harsh reality is that even the stars must face and battle with the same demons that all of us struggle with in our daily lives. Robin Williams always seemed invincible to me with his bigger than life personality and his big smile and laughter that always seemed to fill up the room. I was very sad to read about the personal struggles that he has been facing in his life and his battle with addiction. I hope he has found peace. I will always remember his big, bright smile and all the beautiful memories he has given us through the years.

'We Bought a Zoo' (2011)
In 'We Bought a Zoo', Matt Damon plays a widowed father trying to create a fresh start for his kids following the loss of his wife. While searching for a new home, he comes across a perfect house to create a new life for his family. There is just one catch. The house is in a zoo, and the owner must take care of the zoo and its high maintenance occupants. Ben (Damon) sees the zoo as the perfect challenge for his family.
'We Bought a Zoo' is a heartwarming family film that I found to be very enjoyable. The film touches on many story lines that all come together very well. The rocky relationship between father and rebellious teenaged son. Challenge of being in charge of a zoo and bringing the place up to code in order to reopen it. Feelings of being utterly lost. Finding joy and love in life. And learning that sometimes twenty seconds of insane courage is all you need to discovery something amazing.
'We Bought a Zoo' is a movie that kids and adults of all ages can enjoy, and it will leave you with a warm smile. There's nothing wrong with that.

somewhere i have never travelled
For Her,
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
- e.e. cummings
